Time Out says

Renowned American artist Dale Chihuly's large-scale installations and sculptures have graced Gardens by the Bay since May 1. 25 of his magnificent pieces, as well as more than 80 pedestal sculptures and two-dimensional works, is showcased at Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and outdoor gardens. And in case you haven't heard, the exhibition has now been extended till October 3.

Works by four local artists

As part of the extension, the exhibition will include an exclusive showcase by four local artists – Florence Ng, Jahan Loh, Koh Dawn and Tunku Khalsom – set against the glass sculptures by Chihuly from September 17.

Circle of Life (2021) by pioneer glass artist Florence Ng is inspired by the stamen of the flower, often overlooked yet so integral to the continuation of life. Made in metal and cast and blown glass, the elements are held in perfect balance in a circular sculptural form. A larger-than-life sculpture, Adam and Eve (2018) by well-known contemporary artist Jahan Loh, delves deep into the topic of existentialism, questioning the origins of humanity through the book of Genesis.

Paper Sculpture Artist Koh Dawn will display Discover Your True Self (2021). Made from offcut paper, wires, watercolour and acrylic materials and wallpaper, this is a re-interpretation of Dawn’s original life-sized paper sculpture artwork for Discover Your True Self (2020), made into a giant version.

Finally, international artist Tunku Khalsom's an international artist whose works feature bold and colourful expressions inspired by her childhood experiences. To complement Chihuly's work, she'll be displaying The Colours That Surround Us (2021), inspired by colours in the world – be it sunsets and sunrises or flora and fauna. The artist creates movements and organic forms, letting the paint or ink be the guide. Capturing moments of pure bliss, she wants the viewer to experience and be overwhelmed by colour, an idea Chihuly himself is known for.

Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom

Now here's more info on the extraordinary exhibition. Dale Chihuly: Glass in Bloom is the artist's first major garden exhibition in Asia, presenting visitors with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience an extensive collection of the artist's creations. The works have been shipped directly from Seattle and installed on-site, marking the first exhibition of its scale to be hosted at Gardens by the Bay. The exhibition comes in three parts: Gardens & Gallery, Conservatories and Virtual Experience.

Those familiar with Chihuly's works should definitely keep an eye out for majestic Setting Sun, and Moon, a large spherical installation that was last presented in the artist’s landmark exhibition, Chihuly in the Light of Jerusalem 2000. Visitors will see Ethereal White Persians at the Serene Garden, and Cloud Forest Persians, a study in scale and translucency which debuted in 2019 at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, in London. These large-scale works, which measure up to 10 metres in height and weigh as much as 3600 kg, were curated and designed to complement the spaces within Gardens by the Bay’s Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and outdoor gardens.

“I’m thrilled to show my work in such a dynamic location in Singapore,” said Chihuly. “The natural world is an endless source for creativity, and it has been so inspiring to bring my work to life in this urban garden oasis.”
