Time Out says

The acclaimed Inside Out project is coming to Singapore for the first time. Watch out for the mobile photo booth which will be travelling around our cultural precincts as part of the 7th edition of the Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF).

The global art project was started by anonymous French artist JR, who began his foray into the art world as a teenage graffiti artist-turned-photographer. His art style deliberately combines the use of portraiture and graffiti to transform messages of personal identity into works of art. The project has since travelled to over 130 countries from Ecuador to Nepal, from Mexico to Palestine. Each offshoot focuses on one of the varies themes such as hope, diversity, gender-based violence and so on. In its first Singapore run, it aims to celebrate our diversity and ignite the spirit of togetherness and hope in our community – in line with SIPF's theme of 'Departing and Arriving'.

Inside Out Singapore aims to capture 1,000 portraitures and stories of people in Singapore, catching the essence of the nation's unique collective identity to transform personal messages of identity into art for public consumption. The mobile booth will be hitting the road, heading to the city's cultural precincts to take portraits of participants inside the truck and exhibiting them at various iconic locations.

The trucks will be positioned at DECK, The Substation, 37 Emerald Hill, Tekka Centre, Kreta Ayer Square and ION Orchard from October 30 onwards from 12pm to 7pm (except for Kreta Ayer Square from 11am to 6pm). To keep with safe distancing measures, be sure to register for a slot here.

Keep your eyes peeled for the portraits to be displayed from November 2 onwards. For future locations and updates on Inside Out Singapore, visit www.sipf.sg.
