Take your art appreciation to an unexpected location – Level 3 of Raffles City Shopping Centre. Curated by Ode To Art, The Art Passage brings you an audio-guided art tour inside a shopping mall, closing the gap between art and its viewers by displaying attention-grabbing works in a casual yet intimate setting. Viewers can scan QR codes to enjoy a virtual tour guide to take them through the exhibition.
The Art Passage has been refreshed with a new exhibition featuring works by Thai artist Knakorn Kachacheewa and Indonesian artist Vani Hidayatur Rahman from now till July 31. Admire the vision of the two distinctive artists – where the fusion within the exhibition creates a platform that allows us to look at our society from a different perspective. The artists offer glimpses into imaginary alternative universes, a good break for eyes made sore by our society plagued with a pandemic.
Knakorn’s works depict aspirations for a better life by encouraging the viewer to confront and rethink their existing notions of love, happiness and success. Knakorn creates surreal scenes of graceful subjects that are reminiscent of nude Classicism and unique juxtapositions from Surrealism, dreaming of a better world using palettes of pinks and blues and allowing the viewer to rediscover what it means to be living in our current society.
The other artist, Vani, showcases complex and symbolic work that reminds us that we reach new heights as a society when we are able to balance progress and modernisation with the preservation of our environment. He was the Silver award winner of the UOB Painting of the Year in 2017 and makes use of his intricate technique to detail the inner workings of society.
