Leading up to World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10, one of Singapore’s most established non-profit LGBTQ+ organisations Oogachaga is conducting two community workshops on LGBTQ+ suicide prevention online. Research shows that members of the LGBTQ+ community around the world, and even Singapore, are more vulnerable than others when it comes to self-harm and suicide.
Conducted by Oogachaga's counsellor Shamini Nedumaran and executive director Leow Yangfa, the workshops invite members of the LGBTQ+ community as well as allies to discuss on topics such as suicide statistics, myths and facts, suicide language and terminology, suicide warning signs, and basic suicide prevention tips.
