The Hindu festival of Thaipusam is celebrated over two days where devotees walk 4km carrying milk pots or kavadis – a wooden pole surmounted by an arch that features images or statues of Lord Murugan or other deities, and decorated with peacock feathers – as offerings and to fulfil their vows to Lord Murugan. Spectators are welcome to watch the procession as they walk from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple at Serangoon Road to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple at Tank Road.
