Sunil Edirisinghe is an eminent musician especially in the classical music in Sri Lanka. ‘Vaadakayaneni Oba Sitaraya’ was his first popular masterpiece to be recorded in 1973. Since then he has rendered several music compositions some of which include patriotic songs, Buddhist songs, experimental music based on folk songs and for cinema and teledramas, which rise to a myriad collection of over 500 songs. He has also received several accolades ranging from Presidential awards to Swarna Sankha awards. His first debut as a playback singer was for the song ‘Sandakapahanaka Katayam Opala’ for a movie back in the 70s.
