The annual ice-dancing spectacular is back, celebrating its 20th birthday with an all-star cast.
It’s attracted thousands of Swiss fans during the past two decades (last year 80,000 saw the show), so ice-dancing spectacle Art on Ice is justified in upping the ante for its 20th birthday bash this year. Leading the cast of world-class ice dancers appearing in the show are Olympic gold medallists Tatiana Volosozhar and Maxim Trankov, who took the top spot in Sochi last year, while the rest of the cast reads like a who’s who of modern ice-dancing, including 2010 gold medallists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, former world champion Daisuke Takahashi, Italian world champion Carolina Kostner, Olympic bronze medallist Joannie Rochette, Swiss former world champion Stéphane Lambiel and former European champion Sarah Meier. As always, they’ll perform to the music of a big name star. Following on the heels of previous participants Ronan Keeting, Chris de Burgh, Anastasia and Leona Lewis is Canadian singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado, who hit the big time with her song ‘I’m like a Bird’ in 2002. She’s joined by British singer Tom Odell (whose song 'Real Love' is now known in the UK for its association with a certain penguin-themed Christmas advert) and Swiss soul star Marc Sway.
