Over-indulge on the video-montage collaborations of Australian photomedia artist Tracey Moffatt and her cinephilic partner in crime, Gary Hillberg

Tracey Moffatt is having a bit of a moment right now, thanks to her Venice Biennale solo show My Horizon – and Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre is jumping on the bandwagon, going full montage this summer with a retrospective of the eight cinema mash-ups she created with filmmaker and cinephile Gary Hillberg between 1999 and 2015.

Montages: The Full Cut features the themed montages Lip (1999), Artist (2000), Love (2003), Doomed (2007), Revolution (2008), Mother (2009), Other (2010) and The Art (2015). Made by splicing together moments from Hollywood classics, arthouse films and telemovies, each montage reveals the cliches that pervade our cinema culture.
