The best bars in Bondi

There's more to Bondi than the beach so check out some of these brilliant bars in 2026

Based on Instagram posts alone, you'd be forgiven for thinking Bondi was only about sunrise yoga, surfing and high intensity cardio session. But this beachfront 'burb also possesses an ace collection of bars for when the old exercise you want to be doing is bending the elbow.

The Anchor

At the Anchor, a newish Bondi bar just around the corner from Icebergs, you can enjoy tequila in just about any way you can think of thanks to a crack team lead by star Sydney boozetarian, Andy Penney.

Bondi Bowling Club

After the Bondi Bowling Club received the fairy godmother treatment from the team behind Panama House and Corner House, suddenly we had big picnic tables shaded by crimson G.H Mumm umbrellas, a shady terrace and a cool low litl clubhouse to hang out in on weekends.

Bondi Hardware

Good tunes, mini hot dogs and a kick-arse Hardware Maria made with a splash of beetroot juice and a sesame-salt rim are reasons enough to visit this Bondi bar set up in the old Thrifty Link Hardware store.

The Bucket List Bar and Eatery

It's really all about jugs of Pimm's and buckets of prawns here. The sprawling restaurant and bar is about as close as you'll get to St Tropez's Club 55 and a Paris Hilton Champagne shower in the Eastern Beaches.

The Corner House

This chic restaurant-cum-bar has commanded the corner of Denham Street and Bondi Road for a couple of years now and shows no sign of losing its charm, friendly atmosphere and service. Freshen up with a Venetian Spritzer or a Bulldog gin and tonic and then settle into a bottle of the 2007 Luigi Bosca Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendoza Argentina.

Fat Rupert's

The Flying Squirrel may have taken permanently to the skies, but in its place is Fat Rupert's, a tapas bar doing cocktails in jars, a menu that is surprisingly gluten-free friendly and Flying Squirrel ravioli for those who aren't ready to let go.

The Hill Eatery

BondiCasual offshoots and upmarket spin-offs are popping up all across town in a move by chefs and owners to extend their offering. And the Hill Eatery is just that: a little more fancy, a little more upmarket and a little more sophisticated than breakfast hotspot Porch and Parlour, the other Bondi venture by Sarah Hendricks, Michael Benson and Sam Smith.

Icebergs Dining Room and Bar

If you’re coming on the weekend, early afternoon is absolutely the call to ensure a good spot. And on a summer’s afternoon, the cool white design of Icebergs frames the deep blue hues of the Pacific Ocean. We love it.

Neighbourhood

Think of Neighbourhood, the Bondi bar offering excellent cocktails in fairly modest surrounds, as the late, great Bayswater Brasserie in board shorts. It’s quite a team knocking around in the 100 capacity space. Panama and the Corner House’s Josh Evans is behind the snacks menu and Simon McGoram (last seen at Gardel’s Bar) is on the cans.

Panama House

There's a well-priced wine list, or for something a little stronger try the Sip, Sip’n’Swig – a mini Corona (cute!) with a shot of tequila and a verdita chaser of mint, coriander, jalapeño and pineapple juice. We’re thinking we could get used to this Panamanian lifestyle.
