Time Out says

See the new Who on the big screen

Doctor Who, the world's longest-running sci-fi TV series, is returning for its 37th overall season this October, and you can see it first on the big screen. On Monday, October 8, cinemas around Sydney are screening the highly anticipated first episode of the season (titled 'The Woman Who Fell to Earth'), only hours after the episode is set to be aired in the UK.

Since 1963, the much-loved show has captivated audiences with the adventures of the Doctor – a time-traveling alien who befriends humans, saves worlds and travels through space and time. After a hiatus in the 1990s, the series was successfully revived in 2005 and has spawned two spin-off shows and a new generation of fans. The 11th series is the first to feature a woman as the Doctor, with Broadchurch star Jodie Whittaker stepping into the role alongside the companion characters of Yasmin, Graham and Ryan (Mandip Gill, Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole).

In addition to the premiere episode, behind-the-scenes footage from the new series will be shown.
