Three hilarious tributes to genre filmmaking are screening in one marathon session at the Hayden Orpheum.
Director Edgar Wright, whose heist thriller Baby Driver is a current hit in cinemas, previously collaborated with actor/screenwriter Simon Pegg on three films. Shaun of the Dead (2004) sees suburban London overrun with zombies. Hot Fuzz (2007) is about a bobby in a quaint English country town who thinks his life is an American cop thriller. And The World's End (2013) has a group of 40ish old friends recreating a teenage pub crawl when a planetary invasion strikes.
Collectively known as the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (a homage to famous 1990s arthouse Three Colours trilogy by Krzysztof Kieślowski), the films all star Simon Pegg alongside Nick Frost and feature some of the most well known UK stars of the last two decades.
Go along to the Orpheum's screening in early September and you'll get a free Cornetto included in the $20 price. Your only question is: what flavour?
