Time Out says

There’s a new all female band night coming to the Metro

Ali Barter, Alex Lahey, Jack River, Gretta Ray, Bec Sandridge, Rackett and Body Type are on the line-up for the first ever Electric Lady band night at the Metro Theatre in June.

Presented by the Hopeless Utopian and Triple J, the night celebrates chicks with guitars, synths and electric talent. Australian musician Holly Rankin (Jack River) developed the idea after chatting with fellow musicians Ali Barter, Alex Lahey, Montaigne, Lisa Mitchell, Kita Alexander and Gretta Ray about the incredible surge of women in music.

The Hopeless Utopian, who are the team behind rural music and produce festival Grow Your Own, are hoping the night will become a platform to amplify the strength of women in music. They’ve launched an Instagram handle @electricladyworld to promote interviews with influential women across music, politics, sport and science, including features with surfer Stephanie Gilmore and rally racer Molly Taylor.
