There can’t be many people that went to school with Prince William who went on to make a living as a punk-folk troubadour, but then Frank Turner has always been something of an unusual case. Much has been made of his privileged background but, over the course of seven albums of raw, honest and sometimes acerbic rock, he’s managed to silence his critics. Fiercely outspoken, Turner has cultivated a fearsome live reputation thanks in no small part to an incredible work ethic (his website proclaims he’s played more than 2,200 solo gigs over the course of his career). You’re guaranteed blood, sweat and tears at a Frank Turner show and, for the Antipodean leg of his tour, he’s supported by WA folkie Emily Barker, who famously backed Turner at the London 2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony with her band, the Red Clay Halo.
