Southern-style rock lives on as long as there’s a Gov’t Mule. Led by Warren Haynes, whose bluesy guitar licks on the Gibson Les Paul are as distinctive as his gravelly singing voice; the band carry the spirit of 1960s jam bands and are an act that’s perfect for Bluesfest, which they’re playing in 2018, as well as at a Sydney sideshow. On this tour they’re joined by Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real. Nelson is Willie Nelson’s son and the Promise of the Real is also Neil Young’s band.
Indeed, Gov’t Mule are pretty famous for their collaborations with rock legends – hardly surprising for a band that originally formed from guest players with the Allman Brothers Band. Dyed-in-the-wool fans of American rock will be in heaven.
