The pastry pundits are slinging all of their butter folded, sky high puffed and glazed goods to the Inner West at large on New Year's Day at A.P Town, in a tiny warehouse space just near the Marly, in addition to the OG outpost nestled in the rooftop of Paramount House Hotel.

What is a better remedy to one of the most colossal nights out in the year than carbs? This bakery/café from Luxe founder and incredible baker Simon Cancio and Mecca’s Paul Geshos is serving some of the best bread in the city. It’s dense, elastic and malty. If a sandwich doesn't tickle your fancy, the menu also features breakfast bowls and salads for the new year, new you. Make sure you head to Chippendale for your carb-fix because the Marrickville outpost will be closed on January 1.

Aside from North Sydney, all the Bourke Street Bakeries around the city will be open. You can check out the varying hours on their website.

What's even better than a coffee after a big night on the tiles? A traditional Thai coffee with condensed milk. What's more, Boon also blends up restorative cold-pressed juices, and one of their croissants coated in pandan custard will have you back up and running in no time.

The classic shakshuka at this North Bondi café and bakery is the hands-down standout, but there are green and vegan variations on the theme as well. If it's been a real big night, a bowl of hummus with slow-cooked lamb will sort you right out.

Start 2024 at the place where Sydney breakfast as we know it got its proper start. Hit up the Darlinghurst, Surry Hills or Bondi venues for a mean brekkie, lunch or dinner. You've got options aplenty with an Instagram-able spread of ricotta hotcakes, corn fritters and their legendary scramble. While you're there, make a toast to Bill Granger (RIP) himself.
