Wine and Dine Sydney is the brainchild of three Manly-based Britons who were disappointed that the Roaming Dinner Party speed-dating concept was unknown on the Northern Beaches or North Shore.
Here’s how it works: You sign up with three friends (all of the same sex) or with one friend of the same sex and the Wine and Dine team will match you up with another pair of diners.
The evening is designed to be a progressive meal with three groups of four guys and three groups of four girls. The groups of one sex host dinner parties, and the other sex visits. The sex that is hosting takes care of the cooking whilst the visitors provide the wine. The result is three courses of food at three different locations for the travelling sex.
Following dinner, all the guests meet up at the after party and have the chance to catch up with anyone they particularly liked during the meal, or they might stumble across someone they never had a chance to talk to before. It’s a bit like speed dating for food and wine fans, with the bonus that food gives everybody something to talk about.
The next Wine and Dine Sydney event is on Saturday December 17. This time around the women are in charge of the cooking, and the men are to supply the wine. (The roles will reverse next time around.) Free Ubers will transport the men between locations and take everyone to the after party, which will be refundable after the event.
So if you’re a single guy or girl aged 21-38 who likes to wine and dine and would like to meet a bunch of new people, this event is for you.
