Restaurants, bars, shops and events in Erskineville

It can be easy to overlook pretty little ‘Erko’, as it’s affectionately known, what with big-‘n-brash Newtown and the increasingly bustling Alexandria neighbours. But you do so at your own peril: Erskineville is home to a few legendary pubs (the Imperial, the Rose of Australia, (the Erko), some fantastic and cosy cafés and restaurants, and the verdant Erskineville Oval, which is a great place to stretch out and relax in the shade. Once you’ve eaten (and/or drank) your way down the main strip, walk it off along the back streets as you marvel at the adorable terrace homes and miners’ cottages that lend the suburb its inimitable charm.
