The area developed as the home of the "best Olympic Games ever" in the late 1990s has come a long way since the Closing Ceremony. Nowadays, not only is this playground of different sized stadiums and arenas host to the city's biggest sporting events – you'll cheer madly for your side at the State of Origin inisde ANZ Stadium and see other landmark games across footy codes – it's a hub of big-ticket cultural activities too. Head to Qudos Bank Arena for superstar shows from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, or to the Showground for the annual Sydney Royal Easter Show. If geekery is more your speed, check in here for Supanova, Sydney's answer to Comic-Con.

You don't have to wait for big events to enjoy the area either – there's all kinds of action-packed adventures to be had every day of the week, and cafés, restaurants and parks to relax in throughout the day. Just a quick trip down the line from Central, Sydney Olympic Park is a happening sorta place.
