Stageworks Theatre says
If you don't know the gritty beauty of playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis' work, he just won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and his hit, "The Mother****er With the Hat" opens at Stageworks on July 9.

Now's your chance to experience an electrifying reading of "Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train," directed by award-winning actor and USF Theatre professor Fanni V Green. It's a powerful meeting of two prisoners on Riker's Island who share one precious hour of sunlight each day, the rest of their long hours in solitary.

The script tackles "the impositions and interconnections of institutions and people," Green explains. "His characters speak truth and burning. That's cool beans."

Featuring. . .
Eddie Gomez - Jesus
Tron WhiteTeeth Montgomery - Lucius
David Mann - Valdez
Nick Hoop - Charlie
Camille Achinelli - Mary Jane
Kimberly Webb - stage directions

This reading is pay what you can at the door, with refreshments for sale and conversation afterwards.

Our gratitude to Dramatists Play Service, publisher of Stephen Adly Guirgis' scripts.

Very special thanks to Diane Bailey Morton.
