A World of Flowers

Art
花*Flower*華 ―琳派から現代へ―

Hiroo's Yamatane Museum goes all flowery for spring, picking out the very best blossom-themed works from its extensive collection of Japanese paintings for this display, subtitled 'From the Rinpa School to Contemporary Art'. Classical highlights include several of Edo-era master Sakai Hoitsu's folding screens and 'Birds and Flowers of the Four Seasons' by Suzuki Kiitsu, while more contemporary contributions come from the likes of Togyu Okumura, Matazo Kayama and Chokunyu Tanomura. And if the exhibition inspires you to see some actual live flowers, you'll want to know that Arisugawa Park is only a quick walk from the museum.
