Back in the Edo and Meiji eras, there was an entire genre of art devoted to the depiction of beautiful women, known as bijin-ga. This exhibition shows Japanese ladies at a key moment in their country's history, when some chose to embrace Western influences – and fashions – while others pined for older, homegrown traditions. The ukiyo-e prints on display include work by Utagawa Toykuni Ⅲ, Tsukioka Yoshitoshi and Toyohara Kunichika.
