One of Japan's most noteworthy practicioners of spatial art, Shinji Ohmaki has had his large-scale installations displayed at both a Louis Vuitton fashion show and the ongoing Aichi Triennale this year, while also scoring slots at Tokyo museums like Mori and the Taro Okamoto Museum. This Daikanyama show is a much smaller-scale affair, composed of five two-dimensional works that include pieces shown in Japan for the first time. On the occasion of the exhibition, the first comprehensive art monograph on Ohmaki will also be released by the Art Front Gallery. A collaboration between local and overseas curators, it contains abundant visual hints on how to interpret Ohmaki's evolution as an artist.
