The name says it all, really. As Tokyo's venerable Drum & Bass Sessions approaches its 15th anniversary, the music that once served as the event's lifeblood has all but dried up. The latest DNB party dispenses with the rewinds to offer a more accurate picture of the current UK dance scene. Headliner DJ Zinc used to be synonymous with drum 'n' bass, but he's long since ditched the 'Super Sharp Shooter' sound and now peddles a hybrid of UK funky that he calls 'crack house.' London DJ/producer Plastician, meanwhile, did a good job of straddling the grime and dubstep scenes in the mid-2000s, but has been keeping rather quiet recently. Toronto-based MC Lucid will be on microphone duties for the night, while Flying Lotus-esque electronica producer Eccy heads the local contingent.
