While Diplo dominated M.I.A.'s debut album, Arrular, it was the UK's Switch who assumed most of the production duties on its 2007 follow-up, Kala (can we just pretend that Maya never happened, please?). The DJ and producer – real name Dave Taylor – went on to work with Diplo as Major Lazer, though the duo would part ways at the end of last year, citing the all-too-familiar 'creative differences'. It would be unfair to associate Taylor too closely with his former collaborator, but he certainly shares Thomas Wesley Pentz' penchant for electro and voracious his appetite for global beats. Few parties this weekend are likely to get as molten as this one. Expect electro, hip hop and house from the other assembled DJs, including Rip Slyme's DJ Usus and DJ Kango.
