After going head-to-head with the likes of Ryukyudisko and DJ Aki, Get Hi-Tech resident Yoji faces off this weekend with Tomoyuki 'Fantastic Plastic Machine' Tanaka. To say that these two are an odd match would be putting it mildly. Yoji is doomed forever to be remembered by his former persona, Yoji Biomehanika: the hard trance DJ whose anime-esque appearance and rock star antics made him the toast of the global outdoor party circuit. Tanaka, meanwhile, caught the tail end of the Shibuya-kei movement when he began recording as FPM in the late-'90s, though he'd already been active on the Kansai scene for years. Chalk and cheese? Maybe, but the fact that both are still going strong now says a lot about their ability to work a party – just not necessarily the same party.
