You could probably write a thesis about the stuff that Chris Menist and Maft Sai get up to. The Bangkok-based DJs – one a Brit, the other British-educated – have for the past few years been schooling the city's hip clubbers in the history of Thai music, albeit a carefully curated selection of retro records that are likely to appeal to Western ears (gotta love that Black Sabbath cover). It may not be representative of Thai music as a whole, but it's infectious as hell. Fresh from their Paradise Bangkok in Tokyo gig at Loft on Saturday, the duo are playing an evening event organised by record store Glocal Records, with DJ Kensei and Hajime Oishi as guests.
