The ‘Banff Mountain Film Festival’, shown annually in Banff, Aberta, in Canada, is a world-class film festival that regularly receives as many as 300 entries from around the globe. After taking place in Canada, the festival goes on tour to bring a selection of the best films to audiences worldwide – opening at a total of eleven cities in Japan (Asahimachi (Yamagata), Norikura-Kogen (Nagano), Matsumoto, Tokyo, Kamigamo Jinja Shrine (Kyoto), Osaka, Myoko-Kogen (Niigata), Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka and Sendai) between late August and November. A chance to see some of the best of this year’s short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports and the environment, this is one film festival that outdoor types won’t want to miss. Showing in Tokyo from Friday October 8 to Monday October 11.
