Ebisu's Garden Cinema takes movie-goers on a journey through 20th-century Italian cinema from March, screening a total of 18 digitally remastered films in two categories: 'classics' and 'neo-classics'. The former batch consists of 12 flicks, most of which certainly deserve the moniker. These include Vittorio De Sica's neorealist masterpiece Bicycle Thieves (1948) and somewhat less famous but equally worthwhile 1970 drama Metello, which stars Italian pop icon Massimo Ranieri. There's also a two-film feature programme dedicated to This Must Be the Place director Paolo Sorrentino, whose debut piece One Man Up (2001) will be shown alongside sophomore effort The Consequences of Love (2004). See the full programme here, but note that all films will be shown with Japanese subtitles only.
