Tokyo Northern Lights Festival 2016

Denmark's Dogme movement, Ingmar Bergman's classics, artsy horror...Nordic cinema isn't a narrow category by any means, but this festival at Shibuya's Eurospace ambitiously attempts to pull things together, introducing viewers to the very best films from the cold north with an eclectic programme including both new releases and notable films from past years. The full list of movies has now been released, and it includes Anders Thomas Jensen's dark comedy Men & Chicken (2015), starring Mads Mikkelsen, Virgin Mountain (2015) by Icelandic director Dagur Kári, Show Me Love director Lukas Moodysson's 2013 punk comedy We Are the Best! and Bille August's family drama Silent Heart (2014), plus a special 'Nordic Panorama' programme and a three-film series focusing on Finnish director Pirjo Honkasalo.
