Celebrating 130 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Thailand, the National Museum shows off Thai Buddhist art – statues, mandalas, stelae and paintings – from a period of around 1,000 years. Tracing the hand-in-hand development of Thai culture and the local version of Theravada Buddhism, which has been the nation's predominant religion since the 13th century, the display includes several treasures that are rarely exhibited outside of Thailand, and should make for an excellent opportunity to learn more about the country's colourful and dramatic history.
