Japan just can't get enough of Battles: the technologically enhanced power-math trio are returning to these shores for the third time this year, after playing at Sonarsound Tokyo and Fuji Rock Festival. Anybody who only saw the former gig would be advised to give this show a look, though. If the band hadn't quite nailed the songs off new album Gloss Drop back in April, by the time they played Fuji in July, they were at the top of their game. In a neat touch, additional video screens mean that the guest vocalists from the new LP – who include Blonde Redhead's Kazu Makino and electropop experimenter Gary Numan – also get to join the band on stage, albeit in virtual form.
