The funk bassist to beat 'em all finally turns 60 this year. Bootsy Collins got his first big break when he was hired by James Brown in 1970 as part of the 'original' J.B.'s, and he went on to hook up with Parliament-Funkadelic later in the decade, playing on many of the groups' best-known recordings. As he embarks on his first solo tour of Japan in 13 years, Collins will be sharing the stage with one of his old comrades from the glory days of P-funk: keyboardist Bernie Worrell. The Funk U Band are due to play an 'Adult Funk Night' on Friday, followed by 'Saturday Starlight Party' the following night.
