Opeth

These Swedish veterans seem to have ditched their death metal trappings with each lineup change. Frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt has been the sole constant in a ten-album career during which Opeth have moved from growled vocals and head-banging to a more technically accomplished – and way more epic - brand of proginess that's more apt to recall Dream Theater and King Crimson. They're still officially touring 2011's Heritage, though you might hear some material from their upcoming, as-yet-untitled 11th album.
