A decade after recording their first album together, the aptly titled Dual Pleasure, Ken Vandermark and Paal Nilssen-Love don't seem to be tiring of each other's company. The American reedsman and Norwegian drummer have played together in a variety of contexts, from The Thing to the Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet, but when they strip back to a duo they can really let rip: check this recent live performance, which travels from tense Jimmy Giuffre-isms to molten bariton sax multiphonics over the course of half an hour. Vandermark and Nilssen-Love will be recruiting some old pals for this pair of dates at Pit Inn: Tuesday's show enlists saxophonist Akira Sakata, koto player Michiyo Yagi and drummer Tamaya Honda, while Wednesday's features guitarist Jim O'Rourke and pianist Masahiko Satoh.
