Time Out says

A former truck driver from Mississippi, folk-blues veteran Steve Forbert became a Manhattan fixture around the same time the Ramones did, scoring his only Top 40 hit with 'Romeo's Tune' in 1980. Although his major-label days are long behind him, he's proven that being saddled with the 'New Dylan' tag wasn't quite the kiss of death everyone thought it would be, continuing to mix cockeyed whimsy with gangly compassion. Forbert's first Japan trip in 33 years (!) coincides with the deluxe reissue of his 1978 debut album, Alive on Arrival. He's joined at Club Quattro by Tokyo-based bluesman Steve Gardner – a Mississippi native himself.
