Roppongi Hills and radio station J-Wave have been holding these outdoor concerts every Golden Week since 2008, inviting a different music veteran to curate the lineup each year. Following in the wake of YMO's Yukihiro Takahashi and saxophonist Naruyoshi Kikuchi, the 2012 Tokyo M.A.P.S. – whose acronym stands for Music, Art, Performance and, ahem, 'Showcase Special Stream Session Series' – is overseen by jazzy chanteuse and former Ryuichi Sakamoto squeeze Akiko Yano. Unsurprisingly, it looks set to be an easygoing affair, with old hands like Keiichi Suzuki and Taeko Onuki sidling up alongside Clammbon singer Ikuko Harada, hip-hoppy trio Ovall and Google Chrome campaign girl Hiroko Sebu. Yano herself will be performing twice, including as Yanokami, her electronica project conceived with the late Rei Harakami.
