When influential alt. rock quartet Number Girl split up in 2002, drummer Ahito Inazawa briefly joined bandmate Shutoku Mukai in the freshly inaugurated Zazen Boys before pulling a Dave Grohl, and starting a group of his own – this time with himself as the frontman. Vola & The Oriental Machine have, not unfairly, provoked numerous Bloc Party comparisons since releasing their debut album, Android, in 2007. They share that group's affection for the twitchier, more rhythmic side of post-punk, and Inazawa will often double up on drums during live shows. They're supported by rave rockers Monica Uranglass and mutant rap-disco ensemble Africaemo.
