Elnino: Black Smoker Records 20th Anniversary

Thursday night sees a true explosion of underground hip hop and dub beats made in Tokyo, as local label Black Smoker celebrates its 20th birthday at Contact with an all-star lineup that includes practically all of the stable's top horses, plus a few extra special guests. Highlights are set to come from all-but-entirely re-assembled, venerable early 2000s crew Think Tank, Hokkaido's rebel heroes Tha Blue Herb and Simi Lab, who'll all be serving up treats for those partial to domestic hip hop's nether regions. More electronically inclined punters will want to catch the likes of Compuma, CMT and Foodman, while the Stillichimiya crew's Dengaryu and long-time Koenji stalwart Hikaru are set to hold court in the sub-room. Black Smoker's trusty (and brilliantly named) VJ Rokapenis will of course also be along for the ride.
