Established in 1856, the main restaurant of this venerable Kyoto establishment is located inside a World Heritage site and serves up fancy kaiseki at prices rather more reasonable than you'd imagine. The chefs at Shimogamo Saryo now make the trip to the capital for a spring pop-up at Ginza's Mitsukoshi, where they'll be serving up seafood-heavy delicacies like chirashi sushi bowls, packed with seasonal fare including salmon roe, shrimp, squid and crab. Definitely worth a look, especially if you're planning a trip to Kyoto in the near future.
