For the past ten years, the Farmer’s Market @ UNU has been connecting Japanese farmers and producers with the world at its weekly market in Aoyama. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the market is hosting a weekend of special activities around the theme of ‘appetite’.
Held on both Saturday and Sunday (1pm-5pm), ‘Farm to Bottle’ is an all-you-can-drink tasting event of locally made craft sake, wine, beer, cider and tea. Tickets can be bought on the day at the door or online: ¥3,500 tasting with glass, ¥3,000 tasting with BYO glass. The market, in general, will have its hours extended to 8pm on Saturday August 31, as part of its night market event.
At the Sunday ‘Naked Market’, fruit, vegetables, bread and other products usually sold wrapped in plastic in Japan will be sold plastic-free, in an effort to change consumer perceptions and reduce plastic waste. There will be guest chefs making an appearance too, as well as food trucks and much more to stimulate and satisfy your appetite. Check out the website for the full program.
