While some of Tokyo's largest festivals were cancelled last year out of respect for victims of the March 11 disaster, the Asakusa Samba Carnival fell afoul of a timetable clash with the rescheduled Sumida River Fireworks. There'll be no such problems this year: weather permitting, on the afternoon of August 25, the parade between Sensoji Temple and Tawaramachi Station will be flooded with teams of elaborately attired dancers, shaking their tail feathers to the Brazilian beat.
