Last year's Summer of Setsuden was the death knell of many of Tokyo's favourite festivals, including this one. The Azabu-Juban Noryo Matsuri (noryo literally translates as 'cool of the evening') returns in 2012, though in a slightly different format from years past: it will run for only two days (unlike the usual three), and outside vendors have been given the boot to make way for representatives from local shops and businesses. And there's nothing wrong with a bit of neighbourhood pride, is there? Those minor modifications aside, it promises to offer the usual plethora of dancing, performances, live music and international food.
