Firefly Evenings

Serving seasonal kaiseki delicacies in the backwoods of Mount Takao, the Ukai Chikutei restaurant puts on a special show in its beautiful Japanese garden. From July to early August, the building will be lit up with lanterns, while guests can head out into the greenery after dinner to watch the natural spectacle of glowing fireflies up close. Just make sure to fill up your wallet before heading out into the wilds: kaiseki deals start from around ¥10,000 during the event period.
