Only One Gallery is pleased to present Brandon Constans: ANGELS & DEMONS. This is Brandon Constans’ first solo show at Only One Gallery. Constans is an up-and-coming artist who paints intricate, surreal-looking anthropomorphic creatures and figures. The exhibition is being shown at the gallery from April 13 to April 27, 2017. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, April 13, 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
‘Angels and Demons’ is a two-part show: The West gallery will house a special series of thirteen paintings focused on ‘Pandora’s Woes,’ based on the myth of Pandora’s box. The South gallery will house a multi-theme series playing on the familiar myths of Icarus, the Devil, Adam & Eve, Buddha, and David & Goliath.
This exhibition explores themes of identity, self-destruction, death, morality and spirituality within mythical tales, modern culture and nature through montages of photo realistic hand- painted objects. Insects, plants, animals, bottles, consumer goods, packaging, household items, drugs, and food merge and coalesce to reveal poetic and distorted figures. This work is an exploration of opposing light and dark forces, and their tenuous balance found within mythical tales, objects, modern culture and nature.

About the artist:

Brandon Constans is a Canadian-born artist, working in painting as his medium of choice. His work concentrates on cataloging pictures and everyday objects and arranging them into surreal-looking anthropomorphic creatures and portraits. He paints using a technique of overlapping layers of fluid acrylic paint and Matte Medium in various ways to create two- dimensional embossed realism on white canvas backgrounds. Constans’ work focuses on themes of identity, self-destruction, death, morality and spirituality. His work is an exploration of these opposing light and dark forces, and their tenuous balance found within mythical tales, objects, modern culture, nature, and himself.
