ESP says
ESP is pleased to present the premiere of Brother Frank, the first feature film written and directed by Iris Fraser-Gudrunas. The film follows 20 yr old artist Odessa as she prepares to meet Brother Frank, an 80 year old monk living in rural Ontario. She initially knows nothing about Frank except through the stories from her father and family friend Andy, embellished sagas of Frank’s isolation in an empty monastery and his refusal to leave despite the church’s ostrasization.

Odessa’s visceral interest in Frank as she journeys to meet him, follows another story arch of the gestation phase of creative work, struggling to articulate ephemeral ideas and having those themes actualize concretely in a scenario outside of the artist’s control.

A parafictional retelling of a series of events and meetings, Brother Frank features a cast of contemporary artists and fine-craft artists as themselves, speaking about their practices in a meditation on medium and setting.
