It's A Charity Soul Party!: Sharon Jones Tribute & Cancer Fundraiser! says
After losing our dynamic Godmother of Soul, Miss Sharon Jones, last November to pancreatic cancer, Toronto's soul outfit YUKA decided to pay tribute to one of their heroes while raising money to help others fighting the same battle. Sharon Jones touched many lives and gave her electrifying voice and shimmering presence so selflessly across stages all over the world, even while undergoing chemotherapy treatments. She believed that sharing her gift on stage with the world was an important part of her story and kept singing and bearing her soul until the very end.

On Thursday February 16th at 3030 Dundas West, Yuka will be hosting a fundraiser to celebrate the music of Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings with a 13-piece band (Yuka and friends), plus DJ Misty spinning some of the best funk/soul cuts to keep everyone on their feet. There will be a 50/50 raffle and some special surprises along the way so please join us for our Charity Soul Party! Our generous sponsors for the event include Live is Better and Longslice Brewery!

All proceeds from ticket sales, raffles, and donations will go directly to memorial funds in Sharon's name at both Pancreatic Cancer Canada and Wellspring Cancer Support Network.

Tickets will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
Advance tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite and you may also make donations on the Eventbrite page by clicking on the "Buy Ticket" option. If you cannot attend the event but would still like to contribute to the cause, memorial pages will be set up on the Pancreatic Cancer Canada website, as well as Wellspring Cancer Support Network website after February 16th.

Please contact us through our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/yukafunk) or email us at yukamusic@gmail.com if you have any questions or would like more information on how to donate.

Thank you for your support!
