Solidarity & Community Organizing Lunch N’ Learn says
Join us for the opening workshop of DisOrientation 2016!

Any social movement requires a variety of skills, capacities and interests. Our first workshop is focused on talking about different organising and activism styles and where you can find your entry point.

We'll start with a brief synopsis of types of activism styles and then proceed to multiple roundtables with campus and community activists on what that style looks like.

- The actionist: Takes to the streets and is focused on mobilising towards actions. (Occupy INAC)
- The educator: Gifts us with language and theoretical frameworks that bring understanding to our world. (Idil Abdillahi)
- The caregiver: Takes care of us, looks after community and focused on healing. (Chrys Saget-Richard formely from Racialised Students' Collective)
- The organiser: Works to bring pieces together and build people up. (Beixi Liu from the Workers’ Action Centre)
- The Artist: Uses various forms of art to express movements, actions and politics. (Evan Roy from the RU Trans Collective)

We recognise that the above styles are intersectional and often overlapping. We also recognise that not all styles are included in the above categories.

At the end of the panel we will also have an opportunity to participate in a letter writing campaign in support of Standing Rock.
