Special Screening: 5 25 77 says
Calling fans of Freaks and Geeks, Stranger Things and Star Wars: 5-25-77 is finally hitting the big screen (again) for one screening at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

For Star Wars fans, the date May 25, 1977 holds religious-like importance: it's the day the original film came out. And director Patrick Read Johnson was one of the earliest fans to get a glimpse of the then-unreleased film. 5-25-77 is his love letter to Star Wars and the cult films of the '60s and '70s which came before it: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Jaws, and The Planet of the Apes. Johnson's comedy/semi-autobiopic follows a 1970s teenage version of himself, played by John Francis Daly (Sam from Freaks and Geeks), who gets a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit the Hollywood studio creating the space opera.

Screening May 25, 40 years after the original release of Star Wars, in partnership with our Community Partner FAN EXPO Canada: http://www.tiff.net/films/5-25-77/
