Horace Spence will be talking about ways the food sector can help support at-risk youth through mentorship and skills development programs like Kitchen Master.

Horace Spence works as a program facilitator of the Kitchen Master program with Community Empowering Enterprises, leading group sessions and discussions about new and innovative ways to assist community members and involve the youth in more productive activities through engagement with the food and arts sectors.

Horace has experience mentoring youth and working with community programs to raise funds, and has been involved in production and filming of the Regent Park Focus Boyz to Men program, generating discussions that affect the lives of young boys & men in the community, as well as Catch the Flava, a local television program that discusses pertinent issues that affect marginalized residents and youth in the community.

Horace is a recent graduate of the Community Work/Social Service Worker program at George Brown College, working towards degrees in Psychology and Social Work. His passion for working in the community, especially at risk youth, comes from personal experience. Growing up, Horace experienced many hardships and obstacles that could have held him back from pursuing his dreams; however, he did not let setbacks stop him from moving forward and is putting the credentials to his passions.
