Presented in conjunction with the exhibition 'Camera Atomica', Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders chronicles several inept attempts to establish missile launching bases in the Canadian north. Smokey Joe the trapper - aka Secret Agent Marlof (Arthur Space) - and his cabal of spies from “a foreign country” match wits with rugged Mountie Bill Henry and less-rugged sidekick Kay Conway. Channeling the anxiety of the nuclear age, this 1953 Republic Serial averages a fight scene every 90 seconds.

Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders, 16mm, 1953, directed by Franklin Adreon

Presented in collaboration with Toronto's kitschy purveyors of 16mm film and culture, Trash Palace.
